What's Specific About the Wrangler JL

Unlike most modern trucks and SUVs that use independent front suspension, the JL keeps a solid front axle and a solid rear axle, both sprung on coils. That's the whole reason Wranglers flex so well off-road — and it's also why the details matter so much when you lift one.

Coil springs, not spacers

Because both ends ride on coils, real lift comes from taller, properly-rated springs paired to matched shocks — not a puck stacked on top of the factory spring. A spacer lift changes ride height without fixing geometry, which is exactly the kind of setup we refuse to build.

Geometry correction is the real job

Lift a solid-axle Jeep and you change caster, pinion angle, and where the track bar sits. Past roughly 2.5–3 inches, adjustable control arms and a corrected or adjustable front track bar stop being optional. Get this right and the JL drives straight and tight; skip it and you get wander and, worst case, death wobble.

Rubicon vs. Sport/Sahara

Rubicons already come with an electronic sway-bar disconnect and beefier axles, so they tend to need less to reach their potential. Sport and Sahara builds sometimes add a manual disconnect and control-arm upgrades to match. We tailor the parts list to your exact trim.

FOX 2.5 & King 2.5

Premium reservoir shocks for heat and higher speeds.

FOX 2.5 Performance and King 2.5 are the top of the JL food chain — the plushest, most consistent ride under hard use. Overkill for a mall crawler; exactly right for a rig that gets driven hard.

Wrangler JL Lift FAQ

Do I need adjustable control arms?

On a mild 2-inch setup, usually not. Once you're past about 2.5–3 inches, adjustable control arms and a corrected front track bar are what restore caster and re-center the axle — that's how you keep the JL driving straight and avoid death wobble.

Will a lift cause death wobble?

A properly built lift won't. Death wobble almost always traces back to worn steering/track-bar components or a lift that ignored geometry. We install matched parts and set it up right, which is exactly why so many people bring wobbling Jeeps to us to fix.

What tire size can I run?

A 2 to 2.5-inch lift commonly opens the door to 35s on the right wheel setup, and a 3-inch build gives more comfortable clearance. Fitment depends on wheel offset and trim, so we confirm the combo before you buy tires.

Do I really need an alignment after?

Yes — and it's included on every install we do. On a solid-axle Jeep, caster is the big one; getting it back in spec is what makes a lifted JL track straight instead of wandering. We never hand back a rig we haven't aligned.
